Benign Aggressive Tumours (of the Jaw) B.A.T.M.A.N
The Benign Aggressive Tumours (of the Jaw) B.A.T.M.A.N Facebook group is an online support group for people in Australia setup by Serena Lynch from Townsivlle QLD. To find out more please contact Serena or visit the Facebook page.
In 2015 Serena Lynch from Townsville in Queensland was diagnosed and treated for an Ameloblastoma, a benign aggressive tumour in her jaw, that resulted in a large section of her jaw being removed and reconstructed with her hip bone and muscle by Head and Neck Cancer surgeon, A/Prof Martin Batstone at Royal Brisbane Hospital Metro North Hospital and Health Service
People affected by ameloblastomas often have surgery and long-term side effects similar to people living with HNC and Head and Neck Cancer Australia is currently working with A/Prof Batstone and Serena to include information on our website over the next few months to support these people.
In 2020 HANCA Ambassador Marty Doyle and CEO Nadia Rosin, were invited to join a Soup for the Soul webinar hosted by NeuRA - Neuroscience Research Australia where Serena's twin sister Abigail works, to help raise awareness about ameloblastoma and HNC and the ongoing side effects of treatment.
