HANCA Ambassador Brittany Coles meets the Hon Bill Shorten MP

Today our new Ambassador Brittany Coles and her dad Andrew Coles met with the Hon Bill Shorten MP, Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme and the Minister for Government Services, in his electorate office to talk about the lifelong challenges Andy and other people living with Head and Neck Cancer face every day.

Andy developed a rare airways disease, supraglottic stenosis, due to radiation for Head and Neck Cancer and can no longer eat orally, only liquid through his PEG tube. Since 2020, Brittany and her mum have been a support for Andrew as he navigates living with the life-long consequences of Head and Neck Cancer.

Thank you Brittany and Andy for helping to raise the voices of all people living with Head and Neck Cancer across Australia and to the Hon Bill Shorten MP for listening to their perspectives as a carer and patient.

As a community we continue to await the launch of the Australian Cancer Plan developed by Cancer Australia and remain committed to advocating to improve the support offered to people living with Head and Neck Cancer long after treatment has finished but we can’t do it without your support.
